The Meadowbrook School of Weston, a pre-kindergarten through 8th grade school located in Weston, MA, seven miles west of Boston, is seeking a dynamic, motivated, and passionate EurekaLab Coach to join the Innovation & Technology department, starting in the 2025-2026 school year.

Residing at the center of the school, the Danoff Family Innovation Center (or EurekaLab) is a state of the art learning center for students equipped with the tools, space and resources to bring their learning to life.The EurekaLab is a central part of our program and is integrated into a wide array of  school life. As an early leader in K-8 Makerspace Education, Meadowbrook has been recognized by organizations such as the MIT Edgerton Center, Common Sense Media, the Partnership for 21st Century Learning and NAIS. 

The ideal candidate will help propel the EurekaLab forward as a catalyst for student passion, creativity, exploration and achievement. Primary Responsibilities:

Makerspace Integration

  • Act as a guide and coach for all faculty, encouraging, inspiring, and supporting them in the exploration of innovative and purposeful uses of technology.
  • Collaboratively partner with lower and middle school technology specialists and classroom teachers in Design Thinking/Making integration projects.
  • Collaboratively design, coordinate, and provide in-service professional development for faculty and staff.
  • Work closely with the Chief Innovation Officer and Innovation Coach in fostering an environment of creative and independent incorporation of Design Thinking and Making in all areas of the school.
  • Work closely with the arts department, especially as students use the EurekaLab to create props and sets for theatre productions.
  • Create documentation and just-in-time learning materials for students and staff in the use of the EurekaLab.
  • Provide opportunities for students and faculty to explore making outside of academics, such as before and after school opportunities.
  • Enthusiastically champion successes of students and faculty in their achievement
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Innovation Officer.

Technology Instruction

  • As a member of the Innovation & Technology Department, collaboratively design technology curriculum.
  • Teach middle school electives, including robotics and programming.
  • Teach middle school Art Tech, where middle school students use their makerspace skills to showcase their creativity.
  • Serve as a member of the Meadowbrook FIRST Lego Robotics League coaching team
  • Help support Hands for Hope, a middle school service learning program that uses the EurekaLab to serve the needs of others.

EurekaLab

  • Develop, coordinate and promote uses of the EurekaLab outside of standard school hours, including presentations, public workshops and open lab events.
  • Manage the EurekaLab space, including organizing and maintaining the lab.
  • Manage the EurekaLab budget, including the acquisition of tools/materials. 
  • Present and publish materials of use to organizations outside Meadowbrook.
  • Coordinate the use of the EurekaLab in summer programs, including the training and coordination with summer staff.

Qualifications:

  • Experienced makerspace educator with a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred, in a related field.
  • Minimum 2-3 years teaching  experience, preferably in an independent school environment. 
  • Experienced educator with classroom experience teaching JK-8 students.
  • Extremely organized, multi-tasker with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong, dynamic, and experienced public speaker.
  • Experience creating and conducting professional development opportunities.
  • Clear communicator and skilled collaborator in developing curriculum with faculty.
  • Works well on a team and possesses strong interpersonal skills. A strong fit with the organizational culture is essential.
  • Ambitious and motivated to help students develop and display their expertise in design and implementation.
  • Ability to learn quickly, complete tasks that require self-guided research and independent decisions with minimal supervision.

Preferred Technical Experience or Knowledge:

  • Tools and Equipment: 3D-printing, laser cutting, CNC, Vinyl cutting, sewing, Coding (scratch, python, lego spike).
  • Software: Adobe Creative Suite, TinkerCAD, Fusion360, Google Workspace, Lego Spike.
  • Teaching: K-8 project design, differentiation, scaffolding, classroom management, lab safety.
